Budget-Friendly (Bambu A1, Anycubic Kobra 3, Creality K1C), Powerful (Bambu X1C, H2D), Unique (Snapmaker U1). What to start with, what for a farm, and what for premium color.

Snapmaker U1 is a printer with swappable print heads (tool changer): each head has its own material, and they switch automatically. Three times cheaper than the Bambu flagship.

A hobby printer and a money-making printer are different tasks. When you print to order, these points are important:
- Speed without loss of quality. A printer at 60 mm/s versus 250 mm/s is a fourfold difference in revenue for the same day. Modern models (Bambu, latest Anycubic, Creality K1C) are already standard.
- Table size. A 220×220 mm table doesn’t fit many orders. 256×256 (the 2026 standard) allows for more orders to be placed. 300×300+ - for large enclosures and large series of parts.
- First layer stability. If one in three orders fails due to delamination, it reduces your margin. A camera, automatic table calibration, and a good surface coating are essential.
- Enclosed chamber. Needed for ABS, ASA, PC, nylon. Without it, you’re limited to PLA and PETG - losing corporate (B2B – for businesses, not private customers) orders that require heat-resistant materials.
- Ease of maintenance. Time spent on repairs is lost revenue. The easier it is to replace the nozzle, level the table, or update the firmware, the cheaper each hour of downtime costs you.
Bambu Lab A1 - the best printer for getting started
Table: 256×256×256 mm. Speed: up to 500 mm/s (rated), stable 200-250 mm/s in real printing without loss of quality.
Pros:
- Automatic table leveling, vibration compensation at high accelerations.
- Auto-calibration of PA (pressure advance) simplifies the setup of non-original filament.
- Speed 4-6 times faster than cheap and outdated printers.
- Quiet: 48 dB - prints near you without disturbing.
- Combo kit with AMS Lite (4 spools) – multi-color printing works right out of the box, without additional costs or modifications.
- Bambu Studio slicer - many settings are already preconfigured, you almost won’t have to change anything, just turn it on and print.
Cons:
- Open chamber - not suitable for ABS/ASA/PC, cannot be printed near an open window, wind can spoil the print.
- Nozzles wear out quickly with active use (one standard nozzle lasts 1.5-2 months). It’s better to replace it with a hardened original one, stainless steel comes in the kit.
- Bambu OS firmware - closed source, third-party plugins cannot be connected.
Suitable as a first printer for home and business, printing PLA/PETG, orders up to 200 mm on any axis. If you plan to print in color - take it with a Combo with AMS Lite, the kit is cheaper than buying separately later.
Cost per hour of printing: low, amortization is cheap, maintenance is simple, electricity consumption is 100 watts/hour, peak power can reach up to 300 watts/hour for 5-7 minutes while the printer prepares to print.
Bambu X1 Carbon Combo - for a serious workshop and tasks
Table: 256×256×256 mm. Speed: up to 500 mm/s. Enclosed chamber with an air filter.
Pros:
- Prints ABS, ASA, PC, nylon, carbon fiber plastics - opens the market for corporate orders (B2B).
- Camera inside (you can see the print from your smartphone) allows you to skip a part if something goes wrong without stopping the entire table’s print.
- Multi-color feed AMS is built in immediately – up to 16 spools, if you connect several modules in series.
- Printing tall models without defects thanks to core-xy kinematics (vases, lamps, tall toys).
Cons:
- Price is three times higher than A1.
- More noise due to additional fans. The A1 has one fan for cooling the model. The X1C has 3 (in the head, side, and for exhaust through a filter).
- More difficult to maintain, requires cleaning inside, as well as additional parts.
- For PLA and PETG, you need to remove the top cover or front door, the chamber cannot take in cold air from outside and overheating of the plastic can occur.
Suitable as a second or third printer in a studio, there are B2B orders for ABS/PC, marketplace series (where stable batches are needed). If your budget is tight and you don’t need a camera/filter - look at Creality K2 Plus (the senior brother of K1C with a larger table) or K1C.
Cost per hour of printing: slightly more expensive than A1 due to more complex maintenance and AMS consumables.
Anycubic Kobra 4 or X (new models 2026) for those who watch their money
Table: 260×260×260 mm. Speed: up to 300 mm/s (rated), real 150-200 mm/s with good quality.
Pros:
- Cheaper than Bambu A1 - lower entry barrier.
- Automatic table leveling, vibration compensation.
- Own slicer Anycubic Sliser Next with preinstalled profiles and settings
- Color printing
Cons:
- Firmware algorithms are not as sophisticated as in Bambu, may require manual adjustment of settings in the slicer
- Slightly more noise (55-60 dB)
- Build quality of printers even if you take them from the same batch. Problems with Z axes, nozzle changing mechanism. These problems are small and solvable.
Suitable if it’s your first printer on a limited budget, willing to spend some time figuring things out.
Printing cost is the same as A1
Snapmaker U1 - an alternative to H2C with a different approach
Four independent swappable heads (tool changer) instead of one with switchable nozzles (hotends). Up to 4 different materials simultaneously (e.g., PLA, TPU – rubber-like flex, PA-CF – carbon fiber nylon, PVA – soluble supports) without cross-contamination.
Pros:
- Three times cheaper than H2C with similar functionality for 1-4 colors.
- TPU (flex) prints cleanly - it’s worse with the H2C/X1C.
- Open source firmware, can be modified.
Cons:
- Only a maximum of 4 materials or colors, you need to buy a system for changing materials that expands to 19 colors or materials.
- Young platform - fewer ready-made profiles in the community.
- Color/material switching time is 8-12 seconds.
Suitable if your main tasks are 1-4 colors, flex (TPU) is important, you want to save two-thirds of the budget compared to H2C.
Cost per hour of printing is comparable to X1C

I’m just trying it out - need one printer
Anycubic Kobra 4 or X if the budget is small. Bambu A1 Combo with AMS Lite if you can afford it. Don’t buy Ender 3 / Neo / V2 in 2026 - that’s a 2020 level, slow for business.
I have one Bambu A1, need a second printer
If you want more speed and multi-color – add another A1 Combo (total park = 2 fast tables). If you want a large format - Kobra 3 Max. If you want B2B orders for ABS/PA-CF (carbon fiber nylon) - X1 Carbon Combo or Creality K2 Plus. Also consider Anycubic Cobra 4 or X
Opening a studio, have budget for printers
3× Bambu A1 Combo + 1× Kobra 3 Max for large printing. Three fast tables with multi-color on each + one large format. Covers 90% of market requests.
Opening a studio, medium budget
1× Bambu X1 Carbon Combo (B2B for ABS/PC) + 3× Bambu A1 Combo (fast small orders with multi-color) + 1× Kobra 3 Max (large format). Total ~340,000 ₽, leaves a reserve for plastic, maintenance and consumables. This is a configuration for 200-400 orders per month.
Large budget, ready to go into the premium color niche
1× Bambu H2C AMS Combo - the only machine in the park. Prints 5-7 colors without a cleaning tower, saves 50-70% of plastic on multi-color printing, reasonably charges 12-18 ₽/g for work. Suitable if you already have a customer base for complex multi-color models (figurines, customization). If you don’t have that base - this path is not for you, start with A1 Combo or Anycubic Cobra X#### One Printer Isn’t Enough, Need to Increase Revenue Without Buying a Second

What Definitely Not To Buy in 2026
- Ender 3 / Pro / Neo / V2 - slow, without auto-calibration, the time spent on setup and tweaking will eat into profits.
- Old Anet, Tronxy, basic Flsun - Chinese unstable segment from 2019.
- Used printers with no history - savings will turn into expensive repairs.
- DIY kits (kit sets) - it will take a month to assemble them, and they won’t generate profit.
- Universal printers from small brands - they lack support, spare parts, and firmware updates.
